Luminous Lawrence is a photo essay book exploring the rich typographic forms that inhabit our everyday environment. Specifically, the book focuses on typography in neon lights. As a whole, the book design, photographs, and essay were executed concurrently and transformed into a cohesive self-published book. During research, it was realized that neon lights are a dying art form. This realization made the book all the more important as it captures them before they fade away. The essay itself discusses this point, as well as makes generalized visual analyses of the typographic neon forms. As for the design of the book, the colors and construct of the typography mimics the characteristics of the real neon lights. Lastly, the photographs capture neon lights at their most alluring and optimal time—dusk and evening.
